The most prominent convenience store chain is Oxxo, which you’ll find in most towns in Sonora. The stores are clean and well-maintained, and are a great place to grab a cup of coffee (or other beverage) and a snack.
You’ll find “expendios,” which sell ice cold beer and snacks, all around Magdalena. If you request your beer “con hielo” (with ice), they’ll add ice with your beer in the plastic bag.
There are some differences between expendios, such as what brands of beverages they sell. For example the red-branded Tecate expendios (like Tecate Six) sells brands like Tecate, Sol and Coors Light. A blue-branded Modelo expendio sells Modelo, Pacifico and Bud Light.
Supermarkets and convenience stores also sell beer, and may sell liquors as well.
